Senior Mechanical Engineer Lead

Job Description A rapidly expanding, entrepreneurial technology company, Alarm.com, is seeking an ambitious, talented, Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead. Responsibilities:
Designing Solidworks CAD designs optimized for manufacturing of injection molded plastics Drafting mechanical drawings for production and first article inspections Documenting for assembly instructions, end-user Selecting Materials to meet product needs (outdoor use, ingress protection, impact testing, etc.) Developing prototype units using knowledge of variety of prototyping methods (3D printing, CNC, cast urethanes, etc.) Manufacturing support, including DFM reviews, first article inspections, and test fixture design Supporting the production and supply chain teams sourcing parts and vendors; Updating production parts for new requirements Identifying mechanical process gaps and optimizing designs, leveraging design reviews and part lifecycle management processes Working closely with electrical engineers to meet physical requirements with challenging space constraints Interacting with designers, helping define preliminary component placement and gaining a solid understanding of the various design constraints Maintenance of the Alarm.com community component library and part database management, including:
Upkeep of the Solidworks PDM library components to Alarm.com-defined standards Component creation Component review Design review and assistance importing into Part-Life-Management systems CANDIDATE PROFILE:

years' experience designing mechanical enclosures and electromechanical devices Expertise in design for injection molded plastics for high volume products Knowledge of tradeoffs between costs, functionality and process yield for prototyping and production methods Experience with a variety of prototyping methods (3D Printing, Laser cutters, CNC, etc.) Experienced in conversing with manufacturing and assembly houses about tooling and other design aspects. Ideally, the candidate would have two
programs prototype through production. Meticulous attention to detail, capable of rigorously following processes around part/assembly creation and documentation Works well in a cross-functional team of engineers General familiarity with Safety Standards or in a regulated environments Ability to work on projects in a fast-paced environment Excellent communicator, both oral and written Enthusiastic attitude towards individual and team work and collaborating with geographically diverse offices EXTRAS:
Experience with Solidworks PDM (Professional) Experience with simulation tools (Solidworks Thermal, Ansys a plus) Exposure to Creo Exposure to PCB design and layout tools (Altium, Eagle, etc.) Working knowledge of standards and certification requirements (Ingress Protection, UL 94, etc.) and design parameters to achieve these standards Experience designing for metal components, including stamped, CNC'd, cast, and welded Experience managing/mentoring engineers COMPANY INFO Alarm.com is the leading cloud-based platform for smart security and the Internet of Things. $80K -- $100K
